In a 180-degree turnaround from his openness to speak with members of the Maute group, President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday (June four) dominated out any probability of negotiating with terrorists.
In his speech earlier than troopers in Cebu City, Duterte stated he is not going to discuss to terrorists even when they kill the folks they’ve held hostage.
“I will tell you now, patayin na ninyo lahat ng hawak ninyo hindi ako makikipag-usap sa inyo,” he stated.
“Nagpunta kayo dito naghanap ng gulo sa Pilipinas, lalo na kayong mga foreigners, you are the extremist guys, you do not want to do nothing with the world except to kill and destroy. Eh kung ‘yon ang gusto ninyo ibibigay ko talaga sa inyo,” Duterte added.
The President beforehand expressed openness to speaking with the Maute Group, which had pledged allegiance to the ISIS, in a bid to cut back the variety of casualties of the battle in Marawi City.
Duterte declared martial regulation in Mindanao on May 23 as a result of ongoing conflict between authorities forces and the Maute group.
The terrorists had been stated to have taken a number of folks as hostages in Marawi City to be used as human shields.
