Presidential son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and presidential son-in-law, Atty. Manases Carpio have been “invited” by the Senate blue ribbon committee to seem in a hearing this Thursday (Sept. 7) to testify on their alleged involvement in the so-called Davao Group.
“I expect them to be, if they are my sons and if they are my family, I expect them to be on a higher plane than any other ordinary citizens na kahit konting quip, ‘na wala akong pakialam ‘dun,’ sagutin nila,” Sen. Richard Gordon stated in asserting the resetting of the hearing, initially scheduled to happen on Sept. 25.
Gordon stated that he already determined final Thursday to name on the 2 to seem earlier than the committee.
“You heard me say that (to Trillanes who moved for the issuance of invitation to them) that you may do so,” he stated.
While Gordon certainly uttered these phrases throughout the stated he hearing, he refused to make a categorical on whether or not to invite Paolo and Carpio, insisting that the matter of them being talked about in the proceedings seem to be “hearsay”, in need of saying that it does not benefit an invite.
In a tv interview earlier in the day, Gordon introduced that he has determined to set the hearing on Sept. 7 and invite Paolo and Carpio however did not give any reason the continuing will happen sooner than scheduled.
“It’s their duty to the public na haharap sila na kung anong sabihin, ‘yun na talaga yun. Pero again, I’m not going to make that a precedent na magugulo ‘yung investigation. Kailangan may evidence ka bago ka magpatawag ng tao,” he stated.
