President Rodrigo Duterte has given newly appointed Customs Commissioners Isidro Lapeña a free hand in revamping the “corrupt to the core” Bureau of Customs following the departure of Nic Faeldon.
“If he (Lapeña ) says that there will be a massive reorganization, sa kanya ‘yan. It’s his decision.Ilagay ko siya diyan,” stated Duterte in an interview with handpicked Malacanang reporters in a by invitation solely dinner Monday.
“General Lapeña enjoys my — my confidence and trust, which is very important. Otherwise, we go back to the same old problem,” he added.
The Magdalo group is prone to be essentially the most affected by a large overhaul on the BOC.
Faeldon, a former Marine officer, introduced in at the least 20 of his fellow mutineers – reminiscent of former Army captains Alvin Ebreo, Gerardo Gambala, and Milo Maestrecampo – who took over the defunct Oakwood Residences in Makati City in the course of the Arroyo administration in 2003.
