House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez can heave a sigh of reduction.

Pampanga 2nd district Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in an ambush interview Thursday (April 20) stated that she has no curiosity in pursuing the speakership.

“Will you possibly be running for Speaker?” a reporter requested the previous president after holding a press convention on the West Philippine Sea (WPS) concern on the House of Representatives (HOR).

“Not interested,” Arroyo stated in a terse reply. She didn’t reply to different questions.

The presser was Arroyo’s first since being booted out as deputy speaker by Alvarez in March attributable to her “no” vote on the death penalty restoration invoice. He referred to as it President Rodrigo Duterte’s prime precedence measure.

Alvarez eliminated all dissenting HOR members from their plum post, saying they need to toe the road with the administration.

Since final 12 months, the politically astute Arroyo has been rumored to be a doable alternative for Alvarez, who has reportedly rubbed his colleagues the flawed approach along with his tough insurance policies.

Incidentally, Alvarez as soon as served below the Arroyo administration as her transportation secretary.
