The Marawi disaster will be over “within the month” because the remaining Maute extremists in Marawi are already low in ammunition and meals provides.
“By then end of this month ano ‘yan (tapos na). Pakonti na lang ng pakonti sila,” Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana mentioned on Tuesday. He mentioned there have been about 50 Maute terrorists making a stand in Marawi.
“Hindi na kasing lakas nung volumes of fire nila. The troops there said they are running short of ammunition at saka pagkain,” he informed Senate reporters.
He added,” Pero nakakapatay pa rin sila ng mga sundalo natin by bombing, ‘yung mga RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades) nila at IEDs (improvised explosive gadgets), and snipers. So, on a regular basis meron pa rin tayong casualties, wounded. Minsan could patay.”
Armed Forces chief Ed Año agreed with Lorenzana’s evaluation. “Matapos natin ‘yan within the month. Hopefully, makakaya natin.”
“Mahirap magsabi ng deadline. Maraming nagaganap pag nagbibigay ka ng deadline. Mas lalo pang dumadami ang casualties. Better hindi alam ng kalaban kelan matatapos. But we are in the final phase of our offensive,” Ano mentioned.
