The Supreme Court (SC), which is sitting because the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET)l is making ready to listen to the election protest of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on the victory of Vice President Leni Robredo within the 2016 polls.
The PET has introduced that it has set the preliminary conference of Marcos’s grievance on June 21.
“The SC, as Presidential Tribunal Tribunal (PET), has set PET Case No. 005 (Marcos v. Robredo) for Preliminary Conference on June 21 at 2 PM,” learn the PET announcement posted on Wednesday, April 26.
The PET issued a decision dated January 24 which said that there’s ample grounds to proceed with the election protest.
“The Tribunal affirms its jurisdiction over the instant Protest, which is sufficient in form and substance. The protestee’s [Robredo] prayer to dismiss the Protest for lack of jurisdiction and for being insufficient in form and substance is denied,” learn the ruling.
Earlier, the PET ordered Marcos to pay round P66 million if he desires to have the contested ballots recounted.
So far, Marcos paid the primary tranche of P36 million.
On the opposite hand, the PET additionally ordered Robredo to deposit P15 million.
