The Department of Justice (DOJ) has probability to alter its thoughts once more.

This was assured by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II after being slammed with criticisms over the DOJ’s decision which downgraded the homicide charges to homicide charges towards the suspects within the killing of of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa and inmate Raul Yap.

“Hindi pa naman tapos ang process na yan,” Aguirre instructed reporters Wednesday (June 21).

“You could still file a motion for reconsideration, you could file a motion before the court,” he expained.

The DOJ issued the decision promulgated May 29 which granted the petition for assessment of the accused within the case to downgrade the homicide charges towards them to homicide charges.

This allowed the suspects together with Superintendent Marvin Marcos to post bail earlier than the Baybay City regional trial court docket Branch 14 which is dealing with the case.

“Kung sa tingin ninyo yung kanilang katwiran, mali yung pagdowngrade, the court will listen,” Aguirre identified.

“The court is the final arbiter of this controversy. Kaya’t let’s follow the rules,” he acknowledged.
