The Senate will “not prioritize” the passage of the proposed death penalty bill.
Both Senate President Koko Pimentel and Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto careworn this when requested whether or not it’s time to sort out the death penalty in the 2nd common session of the Senate.
“(It’s) not a priority bill. It is in the regular course of business,” stated Pimentel. “I don’t see that in the radars really,” stated Recto.
Pimentel stated the death penalty bill was submitted by the House of Representatives (HoR) to the Senate to debate it.
“I think we owe it as a gesture of friendship to the House that since they passed it this so it means that they also want us to discuss it. Hanggang doon na lang. I will assure the House that we will discuss the death penalty bill,” he added.
