President Rodrigo Duterte’s confidence acquired a lift as he went aboard the Russian guided missile cruiser “Varyag” on Friday (April 21) for a tour.

While posing for a photograph with the Russians, Duterte mentioned: “The Russians are with me, I shall not be afraid.”

Duterte has sought to strengthen bilateral ties with Russia since he assumed workplace final 12 months. He is scheduled to go to Moscow in May.

The President was accorded arrival honors by the Russian Navy Contingent upon his arrival on the Port of Manila’s Pier 15.

Duterte was accompanied in his tour of the Russian vessel by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon and Department of Foreign Affairs performing Secretary Enrique Manalo.

The Varyag incorporates a long-range anti-aircraft missile rocket system, a protracted distance anti-ship missile and anti-aircraft provider.
