President Rodrigo could have joked about assuming duty for soldiers who rape as a result of he thought it would be funny for them, Senator Grace Poe stated Monday (May 29).

In a tv interview, Poe referred to as Duterte’s rape joke “unacceptable.”

“The President, having spoken that way made me realized that the President chooses to utter certain statements depending on the crowd that is surrounding him so he feels that with the soldiers, it will be funny. But I think, even the soldiers now should learn what is acceptable and what is not,” she stated.

Given efforts to raise girls’s standing in society, Poe stated Duterte mustn’t be making a joke about rape

“I don’t think the President should be saying such jokes,” she stated.

In a speech earlier than soldiers in Iligan City final week, Duterte stated that he would assume duty for authorities troops who rape no less than three girls whereas martial legislation is in place in Mindanao.

His remark has drawn flak from girls’s rights advocates, politikos and his personal supporters.
