President Rodrigo Duterte has expressed gratitude to the United States for serving to Philippine troops in Marawi City at the same time as he claimed he was unaware of the supply.
Facing reporters in Cagayan de Oro City Sunday (June 11) after visiting wounded troopers, Duterte mentioned he lets the Department of National Defense resolve on issues pertaining to help since he declared martial legislation in Mindanao.
“I am not aware of that until they arrived. When I declared martial law,” he mentioned.
If he had been to have his method, Duterte mentioned it could be higher to “stick to our own.”
“Totoo ‘yan, I never approached any American to say that, ‘Tumulong kayo.’ Maski wala man silang tulong. Siguro meron man. Ako, nagpapasalamat lang rin ako nandiyan na rin it could save lives,” he mentioned.
The US embassy in Manila has confirmed that its troops have been offering help to their Filipino counterparts within the battle towards the Maute group and different Islamist militants.
Philippine officers, nevertheless, mentioned the US’ help is restricted to technical issues and intelligence.
