President Rodrigo Duterte continues to help Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon regardless of lawmakers’ insistence that corruption stays rampant in the company underneath his management.
In his speech on the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption’s (VACC) 19th anniversary Wednesday (August 17), Duterte stated tackling corruption stays a problem, even for him.
“Mismo ‘yung Customs ko, pumupuslit sa likod ko. Eh kaya mo ‘yan? Iyo na ‘yang Customs ha,” he stated.
“But Faeldon, I will stand by him. He’s really honest. Kaya lang nalusutan siya because lahat diyan sa Customs, corrupt. My God,” Duterte added.
As proof of corruption throughout the company, the President stated “almost all” Customs officers have large homes and good automobiles.
Lawmakers have been calling for Faeldon’s resignation after a shabu cargo price P6.four billion managed to get previous via a checkpoint of the BOC on the Port of Manila to a warehouse in Valenzuela City.
Faeldon, nevertheless, stated he’ll solely stop if Duterte fires him.
