President Rodrigo Duterte has urged troopers pondering of staging a coup towards him to rethink their plan since he’s ready to depart his post anyway.
In a speech earlier than troopers in Cebu Sunday (June four), Duterte mentioned his Cabinet is stuffed with former police and army generals that would take over him so a coup is pointless.
“Sabihin lang ninyo at aalis ako. Itong Gabinete ko puro na… Nandiyan na si Roy Cimatu, nandiyan na si Delfin, nandiyan si Secretary Tabaquero. Hindi na kailangan kayong mag- coup d’état- coup d’état. Dagdagan ko lang ng opisyal ‘yung iba, eh ‘di kayo na, inyo na. Kumpleto na,” he mentioned, referring to Enviroment Secretary Roy Cimatu, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Presidential Adviser for Military Affairs Arthur Tabaquero.
All three have been former army generals.
In a speech final May, Duterte mentioned he would appoint one other former common to a Cabinet post to “complete” his junta.
Duterte has positioned over a dozen former army and police generals to key authorities posts since he assumed workplace final yr.
Aside from saying a coup is pointless, the President instructed troopers they don’t have to plan his assassination.
“If you think that I am doing a disservice already, tell me, and we can always make an arrangement. You do not have to kill me. You will get nothing kung patayin ninyo lang ako,” he mentioned.
