President Rodrigo Duterte cancelled on the final minute his scheduled trip to Marawi City Thursday (June eight) to discuss to troopers engaged in battle with the terrorist Maute group.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana mentioned “foul weather” compelled Duterte to name off his trip.

“The President is not continuing with his trip here. I think he will go as far as Cagayan De Oro City and visit some of our troops who are wounded,” Lorenzana mentioned.

Duterte was supposed to go to the 103rd brigade in Marawi City, the so-called floor zero of the conflict with the Maute group.

The President declared martial legislation on May 23 due to the battle between authorities forces and the terrorists.

Ahead of Duterte’s go to, high authorities officers led by Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr, and Chief Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza had been already in Marawi City.
