President Rodrigo Duterte and the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo could also be poles aside in phrases of character, demeanor and management fashion, however they share one factor in common as politikos.

Former Ateneo School of Government dean Tony La Viña mentioned Duterte reminded him of Robredo together with his zealousness in visiting wakes of troopers and policemen killed in motion.

“Only our President Duterte who was a mayor would go to as many wakes as he is doing. You know who I remember with what President Duterte is doing? Mayor Jesse Robredo,” La Viña mentioned at a discussion board organized by the Ateneo School of Government Thursday (June 22) to evaluate the administration’s first 12 months.

“Robredo used to tell me one reason he won in all elections was because he would always, always attend in Naga City every wake, baptism, and baptism he was invited to,” La Viña added.

Robredo was mayor of Naga City for 19 years earlier than he was appointed to move the Department of Interior and Local Government in 2010. He died in 2012.

La Viña, who presently teaches legislation topics at a number of faculties, mentioned Duterte’s willingness to go to wakes to be nearer to the folks is one purpose he has been referred to as “Tatay Digong” since he was mayor of Davao City.
