President Rodrigo Duterte admitted that he personally urged his legislation faculty classmate and fraternity brother Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre to file any charges they preferred towards Supt. Marvin Marcos and the raiding group who killed Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa inside his cell final November.
In a speech Wednesday, Duterte revealed that he couldn;t care much less when Aguirre concluded that Espinosa and his group from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group- Region Eight (CIDG-Eight) killed Espinosa in chilly blood.
“Sabi niya (Aguirre), ‘Tol, Brod, it’s murder’. Sabi ko, ‘Go ahead’. Wala akong pakialam. Gawain ninyo lahat trabaho ninyo. Murder? Charge him with murder. I really do not care,” stated Duterte.
“Kung mas mabigat pa sa murder, patong mo diyan. Patong mo lahat. Then ngayon, doon sa reinvestigation, lumabas na homicide,” stated Duterte referring to the Department of Justice investigating group’s resolution to decrease the charges towards Espinosa and his CIDG-Eight group from homicide to murder.
Duterte defended the DOJ group’s resolution to let Espinosa and his group out on bail as a result of he believed that Espinosa resisted the warrant of arrest being served towards him,
“Well, ‘pag ka lumaban ka maski wala kang baril, talagang homicide ‘yan. If you try to grab something, a gun or whatever, if there is a violence there, even how slight, it is always a reason for the lawmen to do something which is very drastic,” stated Duterte.
Duterte was adamant that he didn’t intrude within the DOJ investigation as a result of he would signal their pardon anyway in the event that they had been convicted.
“Sabi ko, ‘Vit, wala akong pakialam diyan. Kilala mo ako. File ninyo kung anong gusto niyong i-file’. But sinabi ko and in front of public, I will never, never allow a military man, a government man, a policeman na makukulong for doing his duty and obeying my order,” stated Duterte.
“Hindi talaga ako papayag. Mag-demanda na kayo kung ano inyong demanda,” he added.
