Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon on dismissed insinuations made by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sec. Judy Taguiwalo that there was a deliberate try to defer her affirmation with a last-minute cancellation of her scheduled third Commission on Appointments (CA) listening to Wednesday (May 17).

“It’s just a question of the commission running out of time,” Drilon stated.

Drilon made the comment after Taguiwalo’ posted her sentiments on Twitter after the CA suspended its committee hearings to take up the respective nominations of Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano as secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Health Sec. Paulyn Jean Ubial.

“The problem was that the opposition to Ubial took time and therefore we ran out of time to take up the appointment of Taguiwalo. As far as I know there is no deliberate effort. That’s a conclusion she has made. I cannot substitute my judgment to her own opinion. So she feels that way, we regret that situation but to my knowledge there was no intention to delay. It’s just that the opposition to Ubial took time,” he defined.

Drilon advised Taguiwalo that she is going to simply have to bear with the schedule of the CA.
