Senate Minority Leader Frank Drilon on Monday is frightened over the re-assignment of Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido to Iloilo City, who’s linked to the killing of native officers concerned in medicine.
While the posting of Espenido was a “prerogative” of the President however Drilon mentioned the obvious “interest” of the police officer to be assigned to Iloilo was a “cause of concern.”
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog and Drilon are second cousins. The President earlier accused Mabilog of defending unlawful drug actions within the province.
Espenido, present Ozamiz City police chief, had been concerned within the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinoa Sr. in Nov. 2016 and Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog in July 2017.
But Drilon maintained that “the peace loving, cultured, and law abiding Ilongos welcome him (Espenido) to Iloilo City.”
“Having said that, the assignment to Iloilo City of Espenido, nevertheless, is a cause of concern,” Drilon mentioned amid the controversies hounding the police official.
Asked to touch upon the President’s reminder to Espino to observe the principles of engagement in pursuing the conflict on medicine in Iloilo, Drilon mentioned, “Good, I hope he does,”
The President introduced Espenido’s new project throughout the National Heroes’ Day commemoration whereby Espenido obtained an award.
“Ngayon, gusto mo sa Iloilo, kasi si Mabilog has been identified as a protector. Mayor. Mabuhay kaya siya?” Mr. Duterte mentioned.
“Gusto ko lang tanungin kasi ako naman ang pagbibintangan. Ikaw nga ang nagbaril diyan tapos ako ang napa-publish kung saan-saan eh. Pero if you do the country a favor, I will support you. And then we’ll all go to jail, do not worry. Just follow the rules of engagement, the requirements of the performance of duty,” the President mentioned.
