Did the federal government depend on fake news to conclude the Maute terrorist group wished to set up an impartial Islamic state in Mindanao?

This is the purpose raised earlier than the Supreme Court (SC) by a bunch of petitioners looking for the nullification of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 216 which declared martial legislation and the droop habeas corpus over Mindanao.

In a manifestation and remark, Alternative Law Groups (ALG) lawyer Marlon Manuel, who represents a bunch of ladies from Marawi City stated that martial legislation implementor, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Eduardo Ano, had three key sources of data for the evaluation of the “intention by the rebels to overthrow the government and to establish a wilayah or an Independent Islamic State in Mindanao.”

These are:

1) the web video posted by the worldwide terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) titled “The Solid Structure” dated June 21, 2016;

2) the web ISIS publication “Al Naba” dated April 2016;

three) the article “The Return of Khalifa” in situation no. 1 of ISIS journal “Dabiq.”

Manuel identified that even the memorandum of Solicitor General Jose Calidahas been “emphatic in asserting the unreliability of news reports.”

“The Memorandum claimed that the AFP statements in news reports are ‘propaganda statements and are part of the military’s strategy of engaging their enemies in psychological warfare,” the lawyer stated.

“We cannot help but ask why, despite these statements, the Respondents are relying on, and citing, as their factual basis, what are admittedly ISIS propaganda materials,” Manuel added.
