Defense and safety officers are focusing on to “normalize” the situation in strife-torn Marawi City by Friday (June 2) since all the things has been underneath management.
The evaluation of protection and safety officers led by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana was shared by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan Monday (May 29) following their closed-door briefing relating to the situation in Marawi City.
By “normalize,” it implies that authorities troops will have the ability to include the armed parts led by the Maute group that has been sowing chaos in the town since final week.
“They’re looking at being able to normalize the situation by Friday, by this week. They might, in the next few days, be able to normalize the situation,” Pangilinan stated.
“Yun ang sinasabi, na wala ng armed elements sa Marawi, yung armed Maute group elements. Yun ang tinatarget nila (by Friday). They didn’t say they will be able to do it but that’s they they’re looking at,” he added.
Pangilinan, nevertheless, stated there isn’t a assurance or understanding but whether or not the declaration of martial regulation will probably be lifted when the armed battle in Marawi City has ended.
“Walang ganung klaseng uspan but kung normal na there has to be a policy decision. Kung normal na kailangan pa ba ng martial law?” he requested.
Pangilinan and 5 different senators comprising the minority bloc have filed a decision calling on the Senate and House of Representatives to carry a joint session to deliberate on Proclamation No. 216 on martial regulation.
