When he faces the Commission on Appointments anew this coming week, Agrarian Reform secretary Rafael Mariano may have new allies from the religious sector.
The National Secretariat for Social Action cited Mariano’s “impressive” pronouncements and insurance policies in favor of poor farmers.
“(H)e should be formally confirmed based on his qualification, experience, track record and his commitment to landless farmers,” Nassa chairman Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona stated (https://cbcpnews.web/cbcpnews/nassa-pushes-for-confirmation-of-dar-chief-mariano/).
Also, he cited Mariano’s dedication for farmers and potential to alleviate poverty and starvation by empowering the farmers.
“Our country needs good leadership, with a heart, to ensure welfare of the poor and marginalized. We have one in the Department of Agrarian Reform,” he stated.
Last Wednesday, the CA deferred motion on Mariano’s affirmation. It is to deal with his appointment anew on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
