Not even President Rodrigo Duterte’s cousins have been spared from the ISIS’ efforts to construct up its military of terrorists within the Philippines.
In his speech on the 50th founding anniversary of Agusan del Norte Saturday (June 17), Duterte revealed why he was enraged on the actions of the worldwide terrorist group and its native affiliate, the Maute group, in Mindanao.
“To the Maranaos, what I’m angry about is even my own cousins there were being invited to join the Maute and IS,” he mentioned in Bisaya.
Duterte mentioned the New People’s Army is “more tolerable” than the ISIS/Maute group as a result of the latter makes use of Islam to commit atrocities.
“Read their pamphlets. They’ll run over you, stab you, shoot you, burn down your — Those are the teachings of a corrupt using a religion to do whatever they want to do. All they know is to kill and destroy,” he mentioned.
Government forces have been going after members of the Maute group in Marawi City, the place the terrorists staged an assault on May 23.
