Vice President Leni Robredo has expressed concern over Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II’s perception in fake news after he erroneously accused opposition politikos of involvement within the Marawi siege.

Facing reporters in Batangas Tuesday (June 13), Robredo stated Aguirre’s newest gaffe was worrisome because it mirrored badly on the company he heads.

“Kapag iyong mga sinasabi nya hindi totoo di, nawawala iyong tiwala ng tao sa institusyon mismo. Hindi lang naman ito sa kanya, pero sa institusyon,” she stated after a dialogue with bamboo stick makers.

Aguirre accused Senators Antonio Trillanes IV and Bam Aquino, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, and former Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Ronald Llamas of assembly in Marawi City before the Mautes staged their assault on May 23.

The Justice Secretary retracted his assertion after the picture he confirmed was discovered to have been taken in 2015.
