Senator Alan Cayetano defended his nomination as Foreign Affairs Secretary as a part of a convention the place a president would title high political allies to run the skilled providers division.

In a press convention in Cambodia, Cayetano stated he has not heard any boy accuse the President of political lodging for naming his dropping working mate to his Cabinet as a result of a lot of DFA Secretaries in the final tree years had been senators like him.

“I haven’t heard that kasi usually ‘yung criticism na ‘yan ay sa mga post sa ambassador. Kasi since after EDSA Revolution, sino ba ang career na DFA? It’s alway… it was (former Vice President) Doy Laurel, Senator (Albert) Romulo, (former Vice President Tito) Guingona,” stated Cayetano.

He stated the criticisms accmodation had been largely directed at ambassadorial appointments.

“The criticism usually is since we have a professional, a very professional Foreign Service group eh huwag dagdagan ng politicians or ng political appointees sa mga post. Meaning as ambassadors and others.,” stated Cayetano.

But Cayetano burdened that he too believed that the greatest individual for the job was a profession officer in in the Department and never an outsider.

“As for the DFA chief, of course I’m with the DFA na one day, dapat magkaroon ng from the ranks diba but it’s been more usual than unusual in the past decades that it’s not a — that it’s a political appointee ‘no,” stated Cayetano.
