Solicitor General Jose Calida assured the public they need to not worry themselves over the declaration of martial law over Mindanao.
“The proclamation of martial law and the suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in Mindanao should not be a cause of unnecessary concern for law-abiding citizens in our country,” he stated.
Calida defined “President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has ample factual basis for such a proclamation.”
“The festering rebellion of the Maute terrorist which has pledged allegiance to the virulent ISIS, otherwise known as “DAESH” in Arabic, is a compelling cause why martial law was declared,” he cited.
Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno herself just lately defined the explanation for the public’s concern is the repeate of the atrocities dedicated in the course of the martial law rule beneath the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos.
“We must remember that these apprehensions were created by former President Marcos and the martial law that followed his 1972 declaration,” stated Sereno.
