Bantay salakay pa rin! AFP alert for threats in Marawi despite troopers’ departure- Palace
The Armed Forces of the Philippines continues to be alert for any menace coming from the Maute Group or its allies despite the death of its leaders, Malacañang stated Saturday (October 21).
In an announcement, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella stated the beginning of army pullout in Marawi doesn’t sign the tip of preventing between our troops and Maute terrorist-stragglers. “While enemy force has greatly diminished, we will continue to be alert and assure the residents of the city that we will not compromise its security with the presence of some units of the Armed Forces,” he stated.
Abella stated the federal government “cannot afford to drop our guard” for attainable threats from terrorists even because it begins the tast of rebuilding Marawi City.
Troops which served in Marawi City started arriving in Manila Friday (October 20), days after the death of terrorist leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute.
