Senator Bam Aquino on Wednesday appealed to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to develop ‘reasonable’ requirements for transport community car providers (TNVS) or ride-sharing functions comparable to Grab and Uber.
Aquino mentioned new laws was wanted to create and institutionalize an acceptable regulatory framework for TNVS and to differentiate it from public transport providers.
“I urge the LTFRB to address this issue of penalties for rideshare companies. Then we can focus on passing legislation to develop the industry and to ensure these new transport networks are held accountable for offenses,” Aquino mentioned.
The app-based ride-sharing suppliers have been fined P5 million every by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for deploying drivers with out the required allow.
Last yr, Aquino submitted a measure, Senate Bill No. 696 or the Rideshare Support Company Act, selling and inspiring new, reasonably priced and secure transportation choices for the commuting public, like Grab and Uber.
He identified that the federal government should work with TNVS because it improved the standard of service for commuters.
