President Rodrigo Duterte couldn’t have chosen a greater time to “threaten” former President and now Manila mayor Joseph Estrada with the prospect of going back to jail.
Just earlier than attending Estrada’s birthday celebration on Wednesday (April 19), Duterte poked enjoyable at Estrada whereas talking at an occasion in Pasay City.
“Si Erap, naghihintay na ‘yung buang. Birthday niya ngayon eh. Sabi niya, punta ka talaga ha,” Duterte stated.
During the marketing campaign season for the May 2016 polls, the President recalled what Estrada supposedly stated about him.
“Tapos noon sabi niya, ‘o wala ‘yang si Duterte. Ano ‘yan, low-class lang ‘yan. Ano ‘yang style niyan,’” he stated.
“Ngayon…ibalik kita sa kulungan,” Duterte joked.
Estrada supported Senator Grace Poe within the presidential race.
Duterte later attended Estrada’s birthday celebration, the place he was seated at a desk along with different bigwigs of Philippine politics: Arroyo, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and former senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Estrada, who was ousted in a peaceable revolt in 2011, was sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of plunder. However, he was pardoned by then-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in 2007.
