Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez has bucked at Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano’s allegation that the House of Representatives simply proved it’s not unbiased when it junked his impeachment criticism in opposition to President Rodrigo Duterte.
In an interview with reporters Tuesday (May 16), Alvarez stated the Alejano’s submitting of an impeachment criticism doesn’t imply it’s faultless.
“E di kailangan i-observe din niya yung ano… proseso no? Sang-ayon sa ating rules at sang-ayon sa ating batas,” he he stated.
The Speaker scoffed at Alejano’s plan to file a criticism in opposition to Duterte earlier than the International Criminal Court after his impeachment rap was junked by the House justice panel.
“Hindi ibig sabihin na pagka hindi sila… ah… yung kanilang reklamo e hindi na-adress ay pwede na sila pumunta dun sa ICC. Pagkatapos dun pag hindi pa din sila dininig e baka sa langit na yung kanilang appeal sa susunod, dun na sila magreklamo,” he stated.
Critics of Duterte have stated that the dismissal of the impeachment criticism in opposition to him could pave the way in which for the ICC to probe him as a result of it will show that the system of checks and balances within the nation isn’t working.
