The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is unsure when martial law will be lifted whilst it’s making all efforts to make sure the terrorist Maute group is neutralized rapidly.

AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla mentioned the necessity to raise martial law following the Maute group’s defeat will should be assesses by the chief department first.

“Yung desisyon po sa pag-lift ng martial law ay hindi po sa amin sa ngayon. Yun po eh, yang desisyon po na yan ay kailangan pang i-assess dahil ang kabuuan po ng Mindanao ang dapat tingnan, hindi lang po yung Marawi itself,” he mentioned on the Mindanao Hour press briefing in Malacanang Friday (June 9).

President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law in Mindanao on May 23 amid the continued conflict between authorities forces and the Maute group in Marawi City.

Even after the Mautes are defeated, Padilla mentioned “follow on actions” will should be performed to make sure the safety in Mindanao.
