Hector Valls Velasco, initially from Chile, lived and labored in Australia

An Australian auto employee drowned in the sea at a beach resort in the city of Compostela, on Cebu Island, yesterday (Tuesday, May 9) afternoon.

Town police chief Junafe Vergara informed the SunStar Cebu that the person had been recognized as Hector Valls Velasco.

He was discovered floating lifeless by an worker of the Green Lagoon Breach Resort, in Barangay Canamucan, at 4pm.

Mr Salundaga informed the police that the sufferer smelt of alcohol once they pulled him from the water.

Mr Velasco was rushed to Danao City Hospital however was pronounced lifeless on arrival.

According to his Facebook profile, Mr Velasco was a toolmaker at a Toyota plant in Melbourne, Australia.

He was a local of Chile, the place he lived at Viña del Mar and studied at the University of Chile.
