Senator Bam Aquino on Tuesday deplored how the federal government continued to bleed much-needed revenues attributable to corruption within the Bureau of Customs (BoC).
“Not only are we bringing in drugs, we’re also losing money on smuggled goods because of corruption in the BoC,” he mentioned.
He made the comment amid the reported P6.four billion value of shabu from China which “slipped past the bureau’s watch.”
It was reported that the BoC fell brief of its goal for July by 11.2 p.c.
Last month, the Bureau collected P34.eight billion in import duties and different taxes, brief of the P39.2-billion goal.
