President Rodrigo Duterte has assumed full responsibility for the results arising from his declaration of martial legislation in Mindanao, telling soldiers they needn’t fear about something.

In his speech earlier than members of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade of the Philippine Army in Iligan City Friday (May 26), Duterte mentioned he’ll combat and pray for the soldiers who shall be clashing with the terrorist Maute group in Marawi City.

“Huwag kayo mag ala-ala. Sasamahan ko kayo. I will… If you go down, I go down,” he mentioned.

“But for this martial law and the consequences of martial law and the ramifications of martial law, I and I alone would be responsible, trabaho lang kayo. Ako ng bahala,” Duterte added, drawing applause from the soldiers.

Duterte declared martial legislation in Mindanao on May 23 due to the continued combat between the Maute group and authorities forces.

While he can not be a part of soldiers on the battlefield, Duterte promised them their wants shall be effectively taken care of.

“Wala kayong problema. I will take care of you. Masugatan ka. Magarasan ‘yang paa mo. You have a hospital na modernized na,” he mentioned.
