Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has sought the cancellation of the passport of retired policeman Arturo Lascanas who has not returned to the nation since fleeing the nation in April.
“Mr. Lascanas has to be brought to the Court to face the charges against him,” burdened Aguirre in an announcement.
Aguirre stated that he would request Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano to cancel the passport of the self-confessed member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) who was charged earlier than the Davao City regional trial courtroom (RTC) over the death of broadcaster Jun Pala.
“Apparently, after he left the country and went to Singapore last April 2017, Mr. Lascanas has not shown any intention of returning to the country,” Aguirre stated.
“Verily, his acts manifest his lack of desire to face the charges and attempted murder filed against him,” he identified.
The Secretary had already ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to coordinate with the International Police Organization (INTERPOL) to find and arrest Lascanas after the RTC issued a warrant for his arrest.
