Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II is keen to endure a congressional inquiry over the resurgence of the unlawful medicine buying and selling on the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

“I will do it again,” mentioned Aguirre throughout Thursday’s (August 24) funds listening to in Congress.

It might be recalled Aguirre participated and introduced witnesses through the 2016 hearings in Congress over the proliferation of unlawful medicine on the Bilibid.

On the opposite hand, Aguirre requested congressmen to give the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) time to end its investigation over the matter.

He famous there’s a 5 p.c resurgence in contrast to the 70 to 75 p.c drug buying and selling at the start of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I do not want that this five percent resurgence to increase. I reported it immediately to the authorities, to the President,” he mentioned.

The Secretary mentioned he “did not lose time because I want to nip this resurgence of the drug trade in the bud.”

“I immediately issued Department Order No. 547 for the NBI to conduct an in-depth investigation on the resurgence of the drug trade at the NBP in Muntinlupa,” recalled Aguirre.
