Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre has blamed the media for the reported involvement of Sen. Sonny Trillanes and two different opposition lawmakers within the Marawi disaster.
Aguirre denied spreading pretend information when he earlier stated that Trillanes in addition to Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano and former political adviser Ronald Llamas that had been concerned in conspiring with the Maute group in launching insurrection in Marawi City.
The Department of Justice (DoJ) even confirmed an image of the three males supposedly taken in Marawi. But Trillanes claimed that the image was taken in Iloilo in 2015.
“Ilang beses ko na ipinaliwanag ‘yan. The picture where you said you were in Iloilo did not come from me. Kinuha ‘yan from Facebook. It was from somebody whom I thought is trustworthy,” he stated throughout the Senate listening to on the DoJ proposed finances.
“But to say that it is fake news, it is not. Because I told the media at the start of the press conference that the information given me are based on intelligence reports and has to be validated. I told the media that it has to be investigated,” he stated.
Aguirre added, “Masyadong mapilit ang media. So I just flashed it (picture). Iyun pala ang bilis din ng media ng kanilang mga camera. But hindi ‘yung flinash ko ang nilagay nila. Naghanap sila sa Facebook.”
“Ang problema hindi inilabas ng media ‘yung precautionary statement ko. So, sino ang may kasalanan? That’s why I said I was misquoted,” he harassed.
