Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II believes the navy must be allowed to do its job of defending the folks as a substitute of guarding the arrested members of the Maute terrorist group.
He made this level in his letter to the Supreme Court (SC) which was requested to switch the Maute to a regional trial courtroom which is able to deal with their circumstances in Taguig City.
“We anchor our present entreaty on the imperative need to free the Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel stationed in Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City from the additional task and concern of safeguarding the apprehended Maute group members and to enable them to focus fully and primarily in their involvement in the ongoing military operations to liberate Marawi City,” he stated in his letter.
The SC has designated Cagayan de Oro City to deal with the trial of the arrested members of the Maute.
But numerous arrested members of the Maute have already been introduced to the detention facility of Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City together with the dad and mom of Maute leders Abdullah and Omar.
