Senator Migz Zubiri favors the 5-month extension of martial legislation in Mindanao to enable authorities forces ample time to run after the remnants of Maute extremists.
Asked if he helps the five-month extension of martial legislation as requested by President Rodrigo Duterte from Congress, Zubiri mentioned, “It’s okay with me. I’m in favor. Hindi kaya ng 60 days.”
“I think the five additional months is more than enough to be able to weed out these armed elements. Alam mo kailangan pa nito ang clearing operations at paghahabol ng mga terrorista,” he mentioned on Wednesday.
He additionally mentioned the prolonged martial legislation till finish of December would offer unhampered clearing operation by the army and police in the areas beforehand occupied by the terrorists.
He cited the rehabilitation efforts now in Afghanistan and Iraq after authorities forces defeated and pushed away the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
“Ni-re rehab nila ‘yung mga areas na pinasukan ng mga Islamist militants talaganag under constant harassment ‘yung pag rebuild at reconstruct ng mga areas na ito,” Zubiri mentioned.
“So, definitely kung gusto po natin ma-rebuild ang Marawi kaagad-agad kailangan maprotektahan natin ang ating mga sundalo hindi lamang po ang mga nag ko construct dun , yung mga iba’t ibang contractors na magtatayo ng mga gusali at papagandahin muli ang Marawi,” Zubiri.
